After doing a whole heck of a lot of producing and pre-production work, as well as directing Hellboy II and the upcoming Pacific Rim, Guillermo del Toro looks to be getting back into the horror game. According to The Hollywood Reporter, del Toro’s next film might be the gothic haunted house film Crimson Peak.
Peak was originally set up in 2008 at Universal Pictures but a deal was recently made to move the project to Legendary Pictures, which is producing Pacific Rim. Word is that this will be del Toro’s next focus.
The original script was co-written by del Toro and Matthew Robbins, who previously teamed up on the 1997 film Mimic. The movie is being re-written by Lucinda Coxon with an eye toward a February 2014 start.
Del Toro always has plenty of projects in the works, but he’s most recently talked about directing the pilot for The Strain, the show based on his vampire book trilogy with Chuck Hogan as well as the long-gestating Incredible Hulk TV series he’s still involved with.
