One of the best aspects of HBO's Westworld was its sprawling cast of characters. The core group of androids -- like Dolores, Maeve and Bernard -- remained the same throughout the show's four-season run, but there were still several different humans and androids featured in the show's vast timelines. Some of these characters played important roles, while others were only on the screen for a few episodes.

But Westworld didn't discriminate and brought in several big stars to play those "minor" roles. One of these stars is Pom Klementieff, who fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe know as Mantis from the Guardians of the Galaxy films. Klementieff made her debut in the show's third season as a blink-and-you'll-miss-it character who didn't have a major impact on the story but did feature in a very memorable finish.

Pom Klementieff Appeared in Westworld's Third Season

Season 3 of Westworld revolved around Dolores' journey outside the Westworld theme park and into the real world after leading a robot rebellion and liberation in the previous season. She set her sights on Incite Incorporated, a data analysis company that created the supercomputer Rehoboam, which it uses to collect data on humans to predict their futures and subtly manipulate their outcomes. To take down Rehoboam and Incite, Dolores must get to their two main players: CEO Liam Dempsey Jr. and Rehoboam's co-creator Engerraund Serac.

One person who works for both Liam and Serac is Martel, an agent for Incite played by Klementieff. Viewers first meet Martel in Season 3's premiere episode, "Parce Domine," where she has a meeting with Liam. The meeting doesn't go well for the no-nonsense Martel, with Liam disregarding her concerns about the data that Rehoboam is collecting and is more interested in what is happening at the Delos corporation, which is the one funding the Westworld theme park and is suffering from the aftermath of Dolores' robot rebellion in Season 2.

Pom Klementieff's Westworld Character Went Out With a Bang

Martel makes another appearance in the third episode, "The Absence of Field," but her character doesn't do anything substantial in this episode. Her third and final appearance comes in the fifth episode, "Genre." At the halfway point in the season, Dolores enacts her plan to expose Rehoboam's control of the population and send the human world into a state of complete chaos. Martel is one of the security people sent to help control the situation at the orders of Serac.

After Martel and her crew capture one of Dolores' android clones, this one under the disguise of deceased Incite employee Martin Connells, the android is questioned by Serac. When the android Martin confesses to crimes against Incite, he triggers an explosive device within the room he's in, killing himself and Martel and cutting off the call with Serac.

While this does mean the end of Klementieff's time on the show, the explosion that she is unfortunate enough to get caught up in is an important moment in the season. The first half of the season had been building up to a showdown between Serac and Dolores, with the former being introduced as the ultimate power player and the latter as the outsider looking to take them down. But Dolores' actions, at the expense of Klementieff's Martel, turn the table on the rest of the season.
