Writer-director James Gunn recently shared a new behind-the-scenes look at Nathan Fillion's character in Marvel Studios' Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.The images were posted on Twitter, showing the actor in his "orgosentry uniform," which Gunn explains is "an organic suit genetically designed." The director also revealed Fillion's character's name, remarking that "Nathan is so wonderful as Master Karja in [Guardians Vol. 3]. I can’t wait for you all to check him out on May 5!" Fillion's casting was announced in a previous trailer for the upcoming threequel. Volume 3 will mark the actor's third appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Fillion's Master Karja is one of several new MCU characters set to be introduced in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. The hotly-anticipated threequel will also feature the long-awaited debut of Adam Warlock, whose cocoon was first teased back in 2014's Guardians of the Galaxy. Will Poulter will play the powerful artificial being created by the Sovereign to destroy the Guardians, with Elizabeth Debicki returning from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 as his creator, Ayesha. Chukwudi Iwuji is also part of the film's ensemble cast as the primary antagonist, the High Evolutionary, a scientist from Counter-Earth and Rocket's creator.

Guardians 3 Introduces Rocket's Girlfriend

Guardians 3 will also include flashbacks to Rocket's adolescence before he escaped confinement from the High Evolutionary. Marvel Studios recently released a clip featuring a younger version of Rocket Raccoon as he and his friends decide what to name themselves. The heartwarming scene revealed Linda Cardellini, who played Laura Barton in previous MCU media, as the voice of Lylla the Otter, Rocket's love interest in the comics, as well as Asim Chaudhry as Teefs the Walrus and Mikaela Hoover as Floor the Rabbit.

In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, the beloved band of misfits' lives are upended by the echoes of Rocket’s turbulent past. Peter Quill, still reeling from the loss of Gamora in Avengers: Infinity War, must embark with the rest of the Guardians on a dangerous mission to save Rocket’s life. The upcoming threequel features an ensemble cast led by Chris Pratt (Peter Quill/Star-Lord) Dave Bautista (Drax), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Bradley Cooper (Rocket Raccoon), Vin Diesel (Groot), Sean Gunn (Kraglin), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Pom Klementieff (Mantis) and Maria Bakalova (Cosmo the Spacedog).

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 opens in theaters on May 5.
