Last week was a pretty big week as far as trailers go. Not only did James Gunn share a sneak peek at the upcoming "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2", but we also got a look at the trailer for the new “Logan” film that’s set to drop in March and “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.” Regardless, only one of those films dominated the social media landscape -- the one with the cute baby tree.
According to the media-measuring firm comScore and it’s “PreAct” service (via Variety), the "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" trailer generated nearly 108,000 new conversations across social media. The teaser was our first real look at the sequel to what some consider one of Marvel's greatest films to date.
Coming in closely behind "Guardians" was the first trailer for “Logan," the final Wolverine film. According to comScore, the trailer generated almost 83,000 new social media conversations -- which also isn’t surprising, due to the excitement over the film being the last to feature Hugh Jackman as the titular mutant.
While the trailer for “Rogue One” dropped earlier than "Logan" and "Guardians," it continued to make waves across social media, still managing to generate 33,000 conversations, despite having other popular trailers release.
Directed by James Gunn, "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" releases on May 5, 2017.
