Director James Gunn gave fans fair warning to pay attention to the Super Bowl this Sunday, and Marvel Studios delivered with a new look at the much-anticipated "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" just before game time.
This latest trailer brings us our first – official – look at actress Elizabeth Debicki’s Ayesha, the film’s main antagonist, who fans will note looks far different from her comic counterpart. As if that wasn't exciting enough, the trailer also gives us our first look at both Nebula (Karen Gillan) and Mantis (Pom Klementieff) working beside the rest of the Guardians. You can check out the explosive new trailer below.
The first film was originally viewed as a “risk” for the studio, as the characters were considered “D-List” at the time of the movie’s announcement. However, surprising everyone, the first film managed to not only see the forthcoming sequel announce ahead of its theater premiere, but also managed to pull in a surprising $773 million worldwide at the box office, and in doing so, cemented the Guardians as a viable franchise for Marvel Studios alongside the Avengers.
Written and directed by James Gunn, “Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2" stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Bradley Cooper, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, and franchise newcomer, Kurt Russell, who plays Star-Lord’s father – Ego, the Living Planet.
"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" arrives in theaters May 5.
