Ego the Living Planet has arrived, and he's making no mystery of the fact that he's Star-Lord's father. In the latest "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" trailer, Peter Quill and his Guardians are on a mission to save the galaxy yet again. However, as evidenced by the trailer's final scene, he'll find his father along the way.

As the trailer comes to an end, the music cuts away. The camera zooms in on what appears to be a pod, which opens, only to reveal two figures inside. One of these is Ego, of course, and the other appears to be Mantis.

"After all these years, I've found you," Ego intones as Star-Lord, Gamora, Nebula, Drax and Rocket Raccoon look on, utterly confused. His son is quick with the reply: "And who the hell are you?" To which Ego responds, "I'm your dad, Peter," and the trailer draws to a close.

Kurt Russell as Ego the Living Planet in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2.

Before the Guardians reach this point, the trailer shows the team on a beautiful planet that almost seems to respond to their very touch. Seeing as Ego is called "the Living Planet," this could very well be true; it's possible that, despite his human-like form, Ego is in total control of the planet they're on. This could also explain why Ego hasn't come to find Peter himself, as he may have become so deeply connected to his planet that he has been unable to leave.

Of course, at this point, all we can do is speculate about Ego. The film doesn't release for another two months, and little to no information about Kurt Russell's mysterious character has surfaced. However, director James Gunn recently made it clear that the film isn't "about the reveal" of who Ego is, saying, "It’s not about this big reveal of who the father is. It really is about the story between the different characters, and so it’s not about that reveal. It’s not about there’s this big shock moment. We’re probably all going to know by the time the movie comes out. It happens pretty close to the beginning of the film. It’s not something we reveal at the end of the film. So it’s something that’ll come out eventually.”
