James Gunn confirms there's still one Guardians of the Galaxy Easter egg that's yet to be found in the 2014 Marvel Studios ensemble.Gunn has previously said there's a major Easter egg that's never be found, but now, he's confirmed some have come close to uncovering it. While hosting an online Guardians of the Galaxy watch party, Gunn said, "They’ve gotten about 60% of it," in response to a fan who asked if anyone's found the elusive Easter egg.

While the Marvel Cinematic Universe has become known for littering its various movies with well-hidden Easter eggs, Gunn's two GOTG movies have been packed with more than most. The director has made no secret about using the team's comics for influence, meaning there are plenty of subtle nods hiding in plain sight.

The latest tweet echoes Gunn's words from August 2019, when he said the Easter egg had been "partially uncovered." Some have questioned how you can only get 60 percent of an Easter egg, but it doesn't look like Gunn is giving away any more clues. Although one major theory suggested Avengers-level villain Galactus was the last Easter egg, Gunn was quick to shoot it down.

For the time being, the missing Guardians of the Galaxy egg is one of the MCU's longest-running mysteries and it's unclear if anyone will ever crack the shell of this tricky Easter egg.

Written and directed by James Gunn, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 does not currently have a release date. However, the film is expected to begin production in February 2021.
