The importance of decorum and tradition in politics is something that even extends beyond the Earth and into the greater galaxy. Sometimes, that means wearing the right kind of clothes for the right situation. But a major hero didn't realize that his nicest clothes have a completely different meaning to the rest of the galaxy.

Marvel Boy just tried to make a big impression at the first galactic diplomatic event at the Proscenium -- and ended up showing up dressed like a notable rock star from the 1980s.

Marvel Boy Guardians of the Galaxy 1

After the events of Empyre radically changed the cosmic landscape of the Marvel Universe, numerous power players from across the galaxy have come together to discuss the circumstances and to plan out the future. It's an important event, with powerful figures like Nova and Super-Skrull being among those in attendance. Among the representatives is Noh-Var, aka the heroic Marvel Boy. As the leader of the Utopian Kree -- a pacifist off-shoot of the Kree Empire that wishes to remain autonomous even from the Skrull/Kree Empire united under Hulking -- Noh-Var is the chosen ambassador for his people.

To commemorate the occasion, Marvel Boy arrives dressed in the official military garb of his people. As he explains to his teammates in the Guardians of the Galaxy, he's chosen to wear the full dress uniform of the 18th Kree Diplomatic Gestalt from his home reality. But while that initially appears to be a fine idea from Noh is somewhat complicated by the fact that the uniform makes him also look like a flashy rock star. Phyla-Vell quickly compares him to British singer Adam Ant, who in his prime wore a similar gaudy outfit as part of his public persona.

Hercules agrees with this assessment, revealing that he'd actually been a roadie for Adam Ant during the artists' heyday. Once he realizes it, even Marvel Boy is forced to agree that he just showed up to a vitally important diplomatic event dressed as a literal rock star. Even the Badoon representative is confused as to why he's shown up dressed like Adam Ant, suggesting the English rock star is pretty universally known. While the galaxy might fear the inherent power and ambition of humanity, they can at least appreciate their art.

It's a fun beat to see play out with Marvel Boy, who's been long-defined by his love for Earth culture. He's shown an appreciation for music from various artists, memorably telling his then-romantic interest Hawkeye about his love for the Ronettes in Young Avengers. It's funny that Marvel Boy isn't initially aware of what his outfit looks like, but also hints that either there are some distinct similarities between the Kree Empire and the world of glam-rock, or that the Kree of Marvel Boy's were massive fans of the musician.
