Fans shouldn't expect a resurrection of Micheal Rooker's Yondu in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, according to writer/director James Gunn.

A fan asked Gunn on Twitter if he would consider bringing Yondu back to life, to which Gunn replied, "Unless we’re talking about some sort of prequel or flashback, I believe this would nullify Yondu’s sacrifice."

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 showed Yondu sacrificing himself to save the life of Chris Pratt's Peter Quill/Star-Lord, and the film ended with him receiving a traditional Ravager funeral.

While initially presented as an antagonist in both Guardians of the Galaxy films, Yondu eventually teams up with Guardians to help take down Ego, causing Quill to realize he was far more of a father figure to him than Ego ever was.

There is no official word on who will be joining the cast of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, but both Chris Hemsworth's Thor and popular Marvel character Adam Warlock have been rumored to make appearances..
