The new incarnation of the Guardians of the Galaxy have become one of the most powerful forces within the Marvel Universe, and they've got enough power to unite the entire cosmic wing of the Marvel Univers, especially since they've got the confidence from various intergalactic empires that are working together. While this team might be mighty,  there are still threats out there powerful enough to put the team at risk.

In Guardians of the Galaxy #13, Doctor Doom just showed off how powerful he really is by attacking the most powerful Guardians of the Galaxy team possible and bringing them down with relative ease.

The current Guardians of the Galaxy roster is among the most powerful teams in the entire Marvel Universe, with a large number of cosmic level figures including Richard Rider's Nova, Gamora, Rocket Racoon, Moondragon, Emperor Hulkling, Wiccan and Star-Lord, who now wields the power of the Master of the Sun. The team has even been expanding in the aftermath of their victory over the newly reincarnated Olympian Pantheon, adding more and more figures among their number. They quickly prove just how powerful they've become when the Progenitors -- a race of galactic-level scientists -- attack the new capital planet of the Kree/Skrull Alliance ahs built atop the ruins of Hala. The team is able to handle the cosmic level threat with relative ease, destroying some of them with a mix of brute force while sending one of them back to warn the rest of their species off of experimenting on sentient beings.

But after the battle is done, Moondragon gets to work probing the mind of one of the defeated creatures. Discovering that the Progenitors had specifically come to investigate and experiment on beings from this new Kree/Skrull alliance, the Guardians are initially confused as to who could have revealed the existence of the alliance to beings from the edge of the galaxy -- with Emperor Hulking noting that doing so was essentially an act of war against him and his new empire. This prompts Doctor Doom to descend onto the planet in a massive storm of magic, at which point he casually unleashes his power against the Guardians and quickly brings the entire team to their knees, deploying a series of energy blasts that knock out most of the heroes in a few moments.

Doctor Doom

Doom is even seemingly being powerful enough to psychically bring down Moondragon despite her own recent massive power boost. As one final insult, Doom even takes up the sword Excelsior, the blade that signifies that Hulking is the Emperor of both the Kree and Skrulls and a weapon strong enough to counter Mjolnir in battle. The fact that Doom does so with ease is indicative of how powerful the Fantastic Four villain really is, and how quickly an ambush by the Latverian Dictator can catch almost any hero off-guard. But notably, Doctor Doom spends the entire fight giving the Guardians grief over their honorific titles, arguing that he is far more powerful despite only ever taking the title of Doctor.

It's possible that Doom is positioning himself as the next great enemy to a united Marvel cosmos and is working to take over the Empire that Hulking has built. But recent previews have also suggested Doom is actually poised to join the team against other upcoming threats, such as the dangerous cosmic cult that the rest of the Guardians discover growing on the outskirts of the galaxy. Doom's introduction to the Guardians could just be meant as a show of power, which would explain why his bolts don't seem to be intended as lethal attacks against his enemies. And if that's the case, Doom certainly found a memorable way to make a first impression.
