Dave Bautista and Chris Hemsworth both fall into the illustrious category of Big Guys, but that doesn’t mean the Guardians of the Galaxy’s signature ship, the Benatar, isn’t big enough for all that… personality. A recent interview with Bautista revealed that he’s completely fine with Hemsworth joining the cast of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
Hemsworth’s inclusion in the Marvel franchise has been rumored since the conclusion of Avengers: Endgame, which saw a weary Thor leave Earth and New Asgard behind in favor of space adventures with the Guardians. Bautista is seemingly gung-ho about bringing Hemsworth on board, literally.
“Yeah! Absolutely,” said Bautista in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. “If we can all do Infinity War and Endgame together… It was a who’s who there and there were no issues. It was pretty amazing to see. That’s a trickle-down thing. That comes from the top. Marvel set the tone for an environment, and that’s what the environment is. I think they take all those things into consideration when people are being hired, and it was incredible to see a who’s who of Hollywood, all interacting together in a very pleasant atmosphere. There were no egos; there was no ego-clashing or attitude. If there was, I didn’t witness it. I think Chris Hemsworth is a great guy; he’s a fun-loving Aussie. He is what you’d expect him to be. He’s very funny, pleasant and upbeat. He’s very social, so I think that would be a perfect fit to be honest with you. I think Hemsworth is hysterical.”
Bautista’s next film is Stuber, directed by Michael Dowse and starring Kumail Nanjiani, Dave Bautista, Iko Uwais, Natalie Morales, Betty Gilpin, Jimmy Tatro, Mira Sorvino and Karen Gillan. The action-comedy releases in theaters on July 12.
