Since 2014, filmmaker James Gunn has been associated with Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy films, having written and directed the first two installments in the franchise, as well as the forthcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Among the hallmarks of the films are the character arcs Gunn gives the members of the titular team and Vol. 3 will be no different, particularly for Peter Quill/Star-Lord and Mantis.

During an Instagram Q&A, a fan asked Gunn which Guardians character arc was his favorite to write, while also admitting they loved Yondu and Nebula.

"Those are two of them for sure," Gunn answered. "I probably liked writing Nebula and Rocket's arcs most (still continuing into Vol 3). But I also think we have great things coming up for the others, like Quill and Mantis. All of their arcs take place over the three films as opposed to in only the individual movies."

Written and directed by James Gunn, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 does not currently have a release date. The film is reportedly scheduled to begin production in February 2021.
