Seth Green, the voice of Howard the Duck in a trio of Marvel Cinematic Universe films and a pair of What If...? episodes, offered a little insight into the upcoming third and final installment of James Gunn's cosmic adventures, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

In a recent interview with ComicBook.com, Green was asked if he will be making an appearance in the upcoming film. "I don't know if Howard's a part of it, I haven't heard anything about that," Green answered. "The only thing I know is that it's the girls' story, it's the sisters' story, that it's Gamora and Nebula's story. So I don't know if it's a prequel, or if it comes off in the new timeline that's splintered post-the Time Heist. Honestly, I don't know anything about it."

Green also mentioned that he wouldn't be hurt if Howard isn't a "central character" in the story centered on the sisters. Nebula herself, Karen Gillan, has gone on record as saying that the script for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 left both her and co-star Pom Klementieff, who plays Mantis, in "floods of tears." Gunn responded to those comments with promises of big roles for each character. "You're learning more about existing characters and on a deeper level. I'm really excited at exploring Nebula, post-Thanos," he said.

While the plot for the closing film of the Guardians odyssey remains unknown, Gunn has hinted that there could be some deaths for main characters involved. After losing grown-up Groot in the first film, Yondu in Vol. 2 and getting a taste for carnage in The Suicide Squad, it seems the director is set on going out with a bang. Rumors of it being the last film for Dave Bautista, who plays Drax, have added to fuel to the fire. However, Gillan made it clear in July that she hopes to play Nebula beyond GotG 3. "I love my character so much. I'm sort of obsessed with her," she explained. "So I would love to continue the journey of the character. I don't know what that would really look like without [director] James [Gunn] or [Drax actor] Dave [Bautista], but I really like playing her, so I'm not eager to finish."

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 arrives in theaters May 5, 2023.
