When Disney fired James Gunn from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, it resulted in the start of production being delayed. With no updates regarding the final film in the trilogy, some have started to wonder if the movie will ever get made.

Chris Pratt, who plays Star-Lord in the Guardians of the Galaxy movies was on the red carpet at the LEGO Movie 2 premiere on Saturday when he was asked if the third movie was ever going to arrive.

“I promise there’ll be a third movie, I don’t know exactly what that’s going to look like, but I know everyone on board is just eager to give the fans what they want and wrap up a trilogy in a meaningful way,” Pratt told Variety. However, when asked if it can happen without James Gunn as the director, Pratt danced around the question.

Chris Pratt isn't the only person to echo this sentiment regarding Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Sean Gunn, the brother of the former director who also has a role in the franchise as Kraglin, also said the movie was coming.

"Guardians 3 is gonna get made," Gunn said while talking to reporters at the Stan Lee tribute in Los Angeles. We're gonna make that movie, and we'll figure out what happens there, but you know, everything ends up having a way of working itself out I think."

This comes six months after the entire cast of Guardians of the Galaxy signed a letter asking Disney to reconsider and bring Gunn back after he was fired for risque jokes he posted on social media many years ago. Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista and others posted the letter on their social media accounts at the time.

Despite all the outpouring of support for Gunn from the cast, Disney wouldn't budge on its stance. However, while the door was left open for Gunn to return in the future, the director chose to move to Warner Bros. and start work on a sequel to Suicide Squad.
