Guardians of the Galaxy: Early Mantis Look Was Much More Insect-Like

Marvel Studios concept artist Jerad S. Marantz has revealed new concept art for the character Mantis, who made her live-action debut in this summer’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

Detailing a much more insect-like look for the character, who was portrayed by Pom Klementieff in her first-ever big-screen appearance, the art is a big departure from the Guardian’s final look, which was considerably more human.

Take a look at Marantz’s early Mantis piece below.

The movie stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki, Chris Sullivan, Sean Gunn, Sylvester Stallone and Kurt Russell.
