To celebrate Star Wars Day, Marvel Studios Director of Visual Development Andy Park shared an early design for Guardians of the Galaxy's Nebula, in which he visualized the character as "essentially a Sith Lord."

Park shared the image on his Instagram page, which shows Nebula with a bulkier costume than she wore in her final design. "Happy May the 4th! Happy Star Wars Day, everyone! Here’s my contribution," Park said of the design. "I remember doing this concept design during the early preproduction phase of the 1st Guardians of the Galaxy film."

Portrayed by Karen Gillan, Nebula made her first appearance as Thanos' daughter in 2014's Guardians of the Galaxy and would later appear in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.

While an official cast list hasn't been released for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, the main cast of Guardians is expected to return, including Gillan's Nebula. This is further evidenced by the fact Gillan has already read Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3's script. And despite the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is still on schedule according to director James Gunn.
