Since his origins as a perfected genetic being known as "Him," Adam Warlock has been one of the most powerful characters in the entire Marvel Universe. When he also took possession of the Soul Gem, his powers only continued to increase. Adam Warlock proved his power when he faced Thanos after the Mad Titan defeated every other Marvel hero during The Infinity Gauntlet event.

Like most of Marvel's cosmic beings, Adam Warlock possesses a wide array of incredible powers. His ever-shifting abilities have made him virtually god-like over the years, and his frequent resurrections have prepared his new forms with an even deeper connection to the universe.

Updated on May 7, 2023, by Scoot Allan: Marvel's cosmic protector Adam Warlock made his live-action debut in 2023's Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3, which reimagined the character as a weapon created by the High Evolutionary's Sovereign. He had a few incredible powers adapted from the comics, though fans knew the film reduced the epic scale of his abilities.

12 Enhanced Strength, Stamina, & Agility

When the Enclave first created "Him," he was meant to be the pinnacle of human perfection. He was the template for a new race of humans to replace the old. However, Adam Warlock's potential surprised even his creators as he quickly proved himself as one of the strongest Marvel characters.

Adam Warlock has superhuman strength, stamina, and agility, making him a superior opponent in hand-to-hand combat. He's faced powerful beings like Thanos in direct physical combat and held his own against other cosmic powerhouses like the Silver Surfer.

11 Flight

Adam Warlock also possesses the ability to fly, both in a planet's atmosphere and in space. This puts him in a rare class of characters that includes heroes like Thor and Captain Marvel. He's constantly storing and converting cosmic energy, which powers his flight as a living solar collector.

Adam Warlock stores enough cosmic energy that he can also occasionally fly faster than the speed of light. This potentially makes him one of Marvel's fastest speedsters when flying, though he isn't as fast when running on his feet. Adam Warlock's ability to fly also keeps him above the action so he can use his other abilities more effectively.

10 Teleportation

As if flying across space faster than the speed of light wasn't enough, Adam Warlock can also teleport instantly across great distances. While it's not a power he takes advantage of carelessly, it has helped him save himself and others during intense battles.

When the Guardians of the Galaxy faced the powerful Emperor Vulcan during the War of Kings event, even Adam Warlock struggled to match the incredible power of one of the strongest omega-level mutants. He instantly teleported himself away from the field of battle, though it drained his powers and Magus almost took control.

9 Soul Mastery

Adam Warlock has taken on some of the most important Marvel villains over the years. One of the biggest and the baddest villains is the powerful Faustian devil known as Mephisto. In Adam Warlock/Silver Surfer: Resurrection, Adam Warlock is trapped in Hell and faces off against Mephisto on his home turf.

Mephisto bribes others out of their souls or drains souls to add to his already immense power. However, Adam Warlock has such incredible control over his own soul due to his time spent with the Soul Gem that even Mephisto couldn't steal his soul while in Hell. This ability also allows Adam Warlock to manipulate the souls of others.

8 Cosmic Awareness

Adam Warlock possesses a cosmic awareness that gives him near-omniscience. He perceives both cosmic and mystic occurrences from virtually anywhere in the universe, which allows him to detect the presence of wormholes and other cosmic phenomena.

After the high Evolutionary gave Adam Warlock the Soul Gem, he became invisible to other cosmic beings and their own perception as an astral outsider. Though he can perceive them, they can't perceive him or his actions, which gave him a unique ability to operate behind the scenes of the Marvel universe.

7 Soul World Access

As custodian of the Soul Gem, Adam Warlock possessed the ability to travel in and out of the pocket universe contained within the gem known as Soul World. This peaceful dimension is an infinite space that acts as the final resting place for lost spirits.

While MCU fans only got a brief glimpse at Soul World in Avengers: Infinity War, comic fans have explored the Soul Gem's reality a bit more. Adam Warlord used his ability to access Soul World during the Infinity Wars event so he could take down the Soul Eater known as Devondra who had been manipulating Gamora and the Infinity Stones.

6 Infinity Gauntlet Weilder

When Thanos first gathered the Infinity Stones together to make the Infinity Gauntlet, he was one of the few cosmic begins who could actually wield and control the immeasurable power. However, he wasn't the only one, as Adam Warlock has shown time and time again that he has the strength and fortitude needed to command the Infinity Gauntlet as well.

While he had a personal connection to the Soul World that occasionally resided on his forehead, he could also wield the Mind, Space, Power, Reality, and Time Stones. He split up the stones and gave them to members of the Infinity Watch to safeguard their power, though he can always use the Gauntlet again if needed.

5 Matter Manipulation

Adam Warlock had a truly cosmic power that gave him an advantage over almost every other Marvel hero. Adam Warlock could manipulate matter the same way he manipulated energy, which allowed him to alter matter on a molecular level.

Adam Warlock's ability to manipulate matter allowed him to do amazing things, such as transform bullets into water droplets or turn giant monsters into tiny ones. One of his most memorable uses of this ability came when he transformed Thanos into a statue made of stone, trapping the Mad Titan.

4 Energy Manipulation

Adam Warlock can manipulate both matter and energy. He can also project energy in various forms, including devastating energy blasts. Adam Warlock can absorb cosmic energy and rechannel it into offensive blasts, or create powerful energy constructs to trap others or protect himself.

Adam Warlock can also create energy shields around himself and others. Only beings of supreme cosmic power, perhaps armed with a weapon like the Infinity Gauntlet, could ever hope to get the drop on him and break through his energy barriers.

3 Regenerative Cocoon

While Adam Warlock is easily one of Marvel's most powerful cosmic characters, he has still fallen in battle a few times over the years. Thankfully, he has a unique ability that allows him to come back from almost any defeat.

When injured or weak, Adam Warlock has the power to enter a special regenerative cocoon. It not only restores his body, but it can also transform Adam Warlock and empower him with new abilities that better suit his service to the universe. It was this cocoon that first teased Adam Warlock's upcoming live-action debut in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

2 Quantum Magic

Every time Adam Warlock's body is reborn in his regenerative cocoon, his body is transformed to better fit the next universal threat. However, sometimes he exits his cocoon early, which can interrupt that transformation. When Adam Warlock returned in Annihilation: Conquest, he had powerful new magical abilities, but his early release meant he didn't understand them fully.

Adam Warlock still developed an innate ability to cast spells that allowed him to interpret dangers to the universe and repair them as needed. He could further extend his other abilities like teleportation by casting a powerful spell. His ability to close dimensional rifts using his cosmic-based magic became one of this version of Adam Warlock's most important missions.

1 Immortality

While Adam Warlock's regeneration cocoon is incredibly handy and has helped save the universe by restoring the Marvel hero on more than one occasion, it isn't always necessary. Even if someone did manage to kill his physical form, Adam Warlock still wouldn't die.

The Infinity Revelation storyline revealed that Death cannot claim Adam Warlock's soul due to his connection to the Soul Gem. This makes him one of Marvel's most powerful immortals as his soul can't move on to the afterlife and his body can heal from almost any injury even after death.
