After being rumored for months and subject to several leaks, Rockstar Games last week finally announced Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - Definitive Edition. This week, more unannounced information regarding the remastered games turned up.

Via Grand Theft Auto's own forums, user alloc8or unearthed a more in-depth description for the game, as well as the system requirements for the PC version of the remastered trilogy. The details give some idea of what sort of improvements Rockstar is bringing to bear in the updated series.

The main description supposedly reads:

"Three iconic cities, three epic stories. Play the genre-defining classics of the original Grand Theft Auto Trilogy: Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas updated for a new generation, now with across-the-board enhancements including brilliant new lighting and environmental upgrades, high-resolution textures, increased draw distances, Grand Theft Auto V-style controls and targeting, and much more, bringing these beloved worlds to life with all new levels of detail."

The coming changes, if true, are welcome ones. Updating the classic trilogy of Grand Theft Auto III, Vice City, and San Andreas with more modern controls will make playing these classics much easier for series newcomers. A visual sprucing up might be all that's needed, although specific information will likely be held until Oct. 22, the 2oth anniversary of GTA IIIRockstar Games previously promised an announcement to mark the event.

The description goes on to detail an apparent discount for players who buy the Definitive Edition via Rockstar's own launcher. Apparently, players who purchase from Rockstar directly, "...by January 5th, 2022 [will] receive a $10 discount on [their] next purchase through the Rockstar Games Launcher or Rockstar Web Stores on qualifying products of $15 or more (exchange rates apply)." The discount offer expires on Jan. 16, 2022, so it's possible that the game will have been on the market for some time at that point.

PC players can start preparing their rigs for the trilogy as well if the leak is to be believed. There are a few issues with the posted specs, most notably the transposition of the Core i5 and Core i7 model numbers. They should read Core i5-6600K and Core i7-2700K respectively. But the specifications appear well within the expected range of the Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - Definitive Edition remaster:

Minimum requirements:

- Intel Core i5-2700K / AMD FX-6300

- Nvidia GeForce GTX 760 2GB / AMD Radeon R9 280 3GB

- 8 GB RAM

- 45 GB Storage Space

- Windows 10

Recommended:

These details aren't confirmed yet but alloc8r has a reputation for leaking accurate information. They also recently posted a series of achievements, complete with descriptions, for all three games in Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - Definitive Edition. The updated series of open-world games will launch for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.
