After the success of the "Minions" spinoff film, Illumination/Universal's "Despicable Me" franchise is set to make a big return in 2017 with the release of a third film. "Despicable Me 3" comes from franchise vets Pierre Coffin, Eric Guillon and Kyle Balda as well as screenwriters Ken Daurio and Cinco Paul and will see Gru (Steve Carell) go head to head against supervillain Balthazar Bratt (Trey Parker). The film will also feature "Despicable 2" addition Lucy Wilde (Kristen Wiig) who will return as Gru's wife.
The new trailer for the film, which dropped via Twitter, also features the debut of Gru's long-lost twin brother Drew. This first look at the film focuses more on Balthazar, a former child star of the '80s. Of course, his ex-profession informs many of his supervillain gadgets.
Directed by Pierre Coffin, Eric Guillon and Kyle Balda and featuring the voices of Steve Carell, Kristen Wiig, Trey Parker, Miranda Cosgrove and, Steve Coogan, "Despicable Me 3" arrives in theaters on June 30, 2017.
