From what we've seen so far, Activision's "Transformers: Fall of Cybertron" is shaping up to be a huge upgrade over its predecessor "War For Cybertron," featuring a thrilling campaign, an all-new game engine that expands the Autobots and Decepticons' home world and a heaping dose of action. But for many fans, the biggest new aspect of the game is easily the addition of Grimlock to the roster, the powerful Dinobot leader who can easily turn the tide in the Autobots' favor.

In a new gameplay trailer, Matt Tieger, game director at High Moon Studios (the development team behind "Fall of Cybertron"), explains the involvement of Grimlock "War's" storyline, and what exactly players can do with him in the game. One of the main differences gamers should take note of is that he doesn't carry a gun in the game like his fellow Autobots. Instead, Grimlock's "weapon" of choice is a dynamic melee system, in which he can pound enemies into scrap with punches and kicks, a form of combat highlighted in the trailer when he puts little Insecticons in their place by squashing them flat.

As he attacks, Grimlock builds up energy in a rage meter, which is located on the bottom right of the screen. Once the meter is full, Grimlock can commence transformation into the powerful "space T-Rex" form, as Tieger describes it. Here, the already-powerful Transformer has a whole new set of attacks at his arsenal, including a massive bite that can snap enemies in half, a huge tail swing and, most importantly, a flame throwing capability that fries Decepticons to a crisp.

Tieger also hints that other Dinobots could play a bigger role in the game. Indeed, we see bits and pieces of Grimlock's friends throughout the trailer, including a trapped Snarl and the pterodactyl Swoop, who does a quick fly-by with several Insecticons in pursuit. More footage will be coming later in the month, hopefully showing them in action alongside their leader.

"Transformers: Fall of Cybertron" arrives on August 28 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
