A new poster for the upcoming horror film Gretel & Hansel has been released, showcasing Orion Picture's dark reimagining of the classic fairy tale.

The film, which hits theaters in January, stars IT's Sophia Lillis and Sammy Leakey as the titular lost children who venture into the dark and mysterious woods in search of food and work, only to come face to face with a terrifying evil.

The tagline, "A Grim Fairy Tale" is a play on the original source material, which was written by the Brothers Grimm. Although the synopsis of the film doesn't reference the witch wanting to fatten the children up so she can eat them, the poster certainly makes her intentions clear.

Gretel & Hansel also stars Alice Krige (Star Trek: First Contact) as Holda, the witch the two children must face off against, and Charles Babalola (Bancroft). The film is directed by Osgood Perkins off a script by Perkins and Rob Hayes. Perkins previously helmed the horror picture I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House. Orion Pictures is the production company behind the project, having previously worked on the reboot of Child's Play in 2019.
