Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai, the upcoming animated Gremlins prequel series for HBO Max, has found its voice cast.

According to VarietyThe Mandalorian and Mulan (1998) star Ming-Na Wen has joined the cast, alongside BD Wong (Gotham), James Hong (Blade Runner, Mulan (1998)) and Matthew Rhys (The Americans).

The 10-episode series will follow Mr. Sam Wing — the owner of the shop where Billy's father first meets Gizmo in 1984's Gremlins — as a 10-year-old boy, exploring how he came to meet the mogwai. Sam travels across China with his friend Elle to return Gizmo to his family and discover a hidden treasure. However, hot on their trail is a power-hungry industrialist and his evil army of Gremlins.

Sam will be voiced by Izaac Wang, while A.J. LoCascio and Gabrielle Green will voice Gizmo and Elle, respectively. Wen will take on the role of Sam's mother, Fong Wing, while Wong will portray his father, Hon Wing. Sam's grandfather will be voiced by Hong, while Rhys has been cast as the series' villain, Riley Greene.

Written and executive produced by Tse Chun, and produced by Darryl Frank, Justin Falvey, Sam Register and Brendan Hay, Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai stars Ming-Na Wen, BD Wong, James Hong, Matthew Rhys, Izaac Wang, A.J. LoCascio and Gabrielle Green. The series will premiere on HBO Max in 2021.
