It has been announced via a Disney press release that Star Wars Rebels has secured a second season before its series premiere. There's just one thing missing from the press release -- executive producer Greg Weisman.

Newsarama reported on the change, as today's press release lists Simon Kinberg and Dave Filoni as Executive Producers along with Co-Executive Producer and Supervising Writer Henry Gilroy. Spinoff contacted Weisman about the change, who confirmed that he will not be returning to Star Wars Rebels.

Weisman has developed a very loyal following during his lengthy career in television animation, one that stretches all the way back to the much beloved series Gargoyle. He recently worked as a producer on both Spectacular Spider-Man and Young Justice. Weisman was brought on to Star Wars Rebels early in the process, and helped develop the series alongside Kinberg and Filoni.

Created by Dave Filoni, Simon Kinberg and Carrie Beck, the series stars Freddie Prinze Jr. as Kanan, Vanessa Marshall as Hera, Steve Blum as Zeb, Tiya Sircar as Sabine, Taylor Gray as Ezra, David Oyelowo as Agent Kallus, and Jason Isaacs as the Inquisitor.

"Star Wars Rebels" debuts as a TV movie on Friday, October 3 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on the Disney Channel. The proper series then kicks off on Monday, October 13 at9:00 p.m. ET/PT) on Disney XD.
