DC's newest Green Lantern series features new trials and tribulations for Hal Jordan, along with a slick new civilian look for his mortal enemy Sinestro.

CBR can exclusively reveal Sinestro's leather jacket outfit, designed by series artist Xermánico, and new cover art for Green Lantern #1 by Xermánico, Ivan Reis, Lucio Parrillo, Pete Woods and Ariel Colon. The surprisingly casual (yet still intimidating) look is one of many Xermánico sketches for key characters featured in the book, including Kilowog and Carol Ferris, as well as several drone fighter designs. Kilowog notably has also traded in his Green Lantern outfit for a tank top and sweatpants.

An All-New Series For DC's Emerald Knight

"Spinning out of the events of Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths, the Guardians of Oa at the heart of the Green Lantern Corps have quarantined Sector 2814, home of the planet Earth -- and its champion along with it! " DC's description of the new series reads. "A heartbreaking defeat has sent Hal reeling, returning home to rediscover his roots...and find the man responsible for ruining his life: Sinestro. From the visionary team of Jeremy Adams and Xermánico (who brought you the epic Flashpoint Beyond) comes a tale of redemption, loss, and finding out that maybe...just maybe...you can go home again. At least if you’re willing to hot-wire a power ring to do it. Also featuring part one of John Stewart: War Journal from writer Phillip Kennedy Johnson and artist Montos!"

Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths saw Earth coming under attack by Pariah's Dark Army, and Hal and Sinestro both played vital roles in the ensuing battle with their respective teams of the Green Lantern Corps and the Legion of Doom. At this time, is unclear why the Guardians have decided to quarantine Earth, but it could potentially stem from Pariah's machinations, which had severe repercussions across the cosmos as the multiverse was recreated.

Adams, known for his run on The Flash from Issues #768 - #792, previously wrote Hal Jordan in two episodes of 2012's Green Lantern: The Animated Series. He replaces Mariko Tamaki, who was originally announced as the writer of Green Lantern when the series was first revealed as part of DC's "Dawn of DC" storytelling initiative, which began in January and introduces several fresh teams and titles to DC's comic slate. John Stewart: War Journal will not be a permanent backup story in the new series -- instead, the preview in Green Lantern #1 serves as a sneak peek of John's full adventures, which kick off later this year.

Green Lantern #1 hits comic book store shelves May 9, 2023.
