Ryan Reynolds continued his ongoing thrashing of 2011's Green Lantern by dropping a hilarious "Reynolds Cut" of the box office flop on social media. The actor, who portrayed Hal Jordan/Green Lantern in the film before taking on the role of Marvel antihero Wade Wilson/Deadpool, shared the 27-second clip on social media Tuesday, writing, "Here's the secret Reynolds Cut of GL you all haven’t been waiting for. In order to make it as great as possible we made some judicious cuts."

The spoof opens with the infamous post-credits scene from Deadpool 2, in which Deadpool is seen traveling back in time to kill Reynolds as he reads the Green Lantern script. The short video also features footage of Tom Cruise taking over the role of Jordan -- a reference to fan rumors that the action star was in line to reboot the franchise -- as well as shots of Cruise's character Maverick piloting a fighter jet in Top Gun. The parody ends with Green Lantern soaring through the sky to join members of the Justice League, as portrayed in the 2017 film.

Reynolds' post comes after years of rumors that Green Lantern may return in the upcoming Zack Snyder's Justice League. While it's not likely that Reynolds will reprise his role, Snyder previously teased that Green Lantern may be joining the rest of the team to face Darkseid.

Fans suspect Green Lantern has a future in the DC Extended Universe after characters connected to the interstellar law enforcer appeared in the theatrical cut of Justice League. Warner Bros. also announced in July 2015 that a film titled Green Lantern Corps is in the works. In the meantime, Reynolds' Deadpool is expected to officially join the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the near future.
