Green Lantern has been around for several decades. Over that time, the character has evolved from a simple railroad engineer with a magic ring to an inspiring protector of the galaxy, armed with a power ring bestowed upon him by the Guardians of the Universe. Green Lantern has become one of DC's most popular characters and has appeared in video games, television shows and films.

The character turns 80 this year, and to celebrate, DC will be releasing a sizeable 100-page Green Lantern issue, appropriately titled, Green Lantern 80th Anniversary 100-Page Super Spectacular #1. The book contains four stories from writers and artists including Geoff Johns, Ivan Reis, Ron Marz, Darryl Banks, Robert Venditti, Rafa Sandoval, Charlotte (Fullerton) McDuffie and ChrisCross.
