In every installment of I Love Ya But You’re Strange I spotlight strange but ultimately endearing comic stories. Feel free to e-mail me at brianc@cbr.com if you have a suggestion for a future installment!

Today, we look at the time that Green Lantern and Green Arrow ran afoul of a villain based on then Vice President Spiro Agnew and a telekinetic little girl based on then President Richard M. Nixon (the only President/Vice President duo who BOTH resigned from office).

It went down in Green Lantern #83 (by Denny O'Neil, Neal Adams and Dick Giordano), which opens with Carol Ferris bumping into Grandy and little Sybil, and Grandy made Sybil use her powers to cripple Carol...

You can see the comparison between Grandy and Sybil and the two real life politicians that they were based upon...

Dinah Lance went to get a job at a school where Grandy worked and Sybil attended. Grandy then had Sybil attack Green Lantern and Green Arrow...

We see her powers in action later...

Dinah transforms into Black Canary and investigates and is captured, where we see that Grandy took Sybil in years ago...

Later, when Green Lantern and Green Arrow went to rescue Dinah, they were attacked by Sybil, as well...

However, ultimately, Sybil decided that she had enough of all of the evil stuff that Grandy wanted her to do, so she brought the school down on them, killing them both...

At the end of the issue, we see that Sybil likely survived.

What a bizarre story, but I loved it! The political commentary was a bit surprising, but otherwise, it was a fine issue! And great art! Not pictured is a funny Alfred Hitchcock joke, as well (Adams drew Hitchcock as the mailman for the school).

If anyone else has a suggestion for a future I Love Ya But You're Strange, drop me a line at brianc@cbr.com! Again, we're going to have a whole month of these, so, well, more suggestions would be great!
