Since his debut in The Amazing Spider-Man #14, the Green Goblin has been either the bane of Spider-Man’s existence or an uneasy hero, depending on who’s been under the mask. The most well known Green Goblin is industrialist Norman Osborn, followed by his son Harry— both extremely personal foes for Peter Parker. Another famous Green Goblin is Phil Urich, who began on the side of good before slipping into villainy.

In the real world, however, many more people have dressed up as the Green Goblin, each sharing the same goal: To create some spectacular (not to mention amazing and sensational) cosplay.

10 Terry Dodson & Humberto Ramos-Inspired Look By Jay Doherty

Jay Doherty cosplays the Green Goblin

Cosplayer Jay Doherty has created a stunningly detailed and accurate Green Goblin costume, echoing the padded, leather look reminiscent of artists Terry Dodson’s and Humberto Ramos’ takes on the character.

This costume emphasizes practicality, even adding goggles as a logical safety feature for sailing through the skies. Touches like the prosthetic ears and nose, as well as cosmetic wrinkles, add extra authenticity to this Goblin, making him look like he’s stepped right out of a comic book or even a live action production. Should the Green Goblin appear in a new Spider-Man movie, Hollywood may want to give Doherty a call.

9 Amazing Spider-Man 2 Version By Cooper D'Angelo

Cooper D'Angelo cosplaying the Green Goblin

Cosplayer Cooper D’Angelo looks nearly identical to the Harry Osborn Green Goblin from The Amazing Spider-Man 2. While not necessarily made from the same materials, the armor D’Angelo’s wearing captures many of the finer details of Harry’s, including the half-green, half-gray color scheme.

Similarly, the bright orange hair is a 100%  match for the style Harry sported while transformed. D’Angelo also knows how to play Harry perfectly in character, as seen on his YouTube channel in a video that has been retweeted by none other than Marc Webb as well as Harry Osborn's actor from that film, Dane DeHaan.

8 Making Nice With Spider-Man By Anycoolcosplayleft & Zemo America

It seems the Green Goblin has finally decided to put his enmity with a certain Webslinger behind him— at least for a cool photo.

Green Goblin Anycoolcosplayleft is joined by Zemo America’s Spider-Man for a team-up that would surely get a lot of fans talking if it happened in the comics. Could Spider-Man have won the Green Goblin over with that tasty bagel he appears to be holding? Perhaps the way to a super-villain’s heart really is through their stomach— though some might argue it’s only polite that the Goblin offer Spider-Man something similarly delicious in return. Perhaps a pumpkin pie?

7 Green-Eyed, Green-Haired Green Goblin By Sylphn

Sylphn cosplaying the Green Goblin

The talented Sylphn has a unique take on a gender-bent Green Goblin, opting for a mask with teeth that covers the lower part of her face while using green makeup for the rest. Instead of yellow eyes, Sylphn has opted for green, and her hair’s been dyed the color of the Goblin’s “skin.”

She also seems to be holding a miniature version of Hobart “Hobie” Brown, a.k.a. “Spider-Punk” from Marvel’s Earth-138. It seems this Goblin has already decided which Spider-Man will be her next target, unless of course she’s already defeated him and has taken the Spider-Punk doll as a prize.

6 2002 Movie Version By Logan Monroe

Logan Monroe cosplaying the Green Goblin

The traditional Green Goblin’s costume is actually more durable than it appears, thanks to the chain mail often present in the suit. The 2002 Spider-Man movie upped the protection the Goblin costume provides even further, however, by turning it into full-on armor.

Logan Monroe pays homage to that version of the uniform, echoing it fairly faithfully. Like the armor in the movie, Monroe’s Green Goblin suit leaves purple out of the uniform itself, keeping things primarily green, with the eyepieces remaining a menacing yellow. The spikes on the wrist gauntlets are new, however, resembling the fins on Batman’s gloves.

5 Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark Version By Ace Cosplay

Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark had many hurdles on its way to the stage and only ran for a brief time, but it still has its fans. Among them is Ace Cosplay, who recreates the musical’s version of the Green Goblin costume with body paint.

Ace Cosplay’s full process can be seen on her YouTube channel, where she explains that she combined green and black hairspray for the Goblin’s hair, while using cardboard for the spikes around his body. The rest was made with various shades of green paint, resulting in a look that closely resembles the Green Goblin’s suit in the show, but likely took far less time to make.

4 Serum-Burned Flesh By Sofa Korotkikh

Sometimes a cosplayer doesn’t even need a full-on costume to emulate a character. Sofa Korotkikh combines photo effects with prosthetic makeup to create a Green Goblin not entirely unlike Harry Osborn in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, while also managing to be a unique interpretation of its own.

Green energy seems to surround this Goblin, whose face and neck appear damaged and burned: A side effect from the serum that transformed her, perhaps? That could also explain the dark green substance on this Goblin’s lower lip, which could be meant as blood or saliva altered by the serum— or perhaps leftover traces of the serum itself.

3 Green Goblin Claus By Karolina Jarmo

Karolina Jarmo cosplaying the Green Goblin

It’s the most wonderful time of the year— unless you’re Spider-Man, that is! Karolina Jarmo (a.k.a. “Szysa”) takes the Green Goblin’s classic look and spruces it up for the holidays, adding a Santa Claus hat and red flowers to the ensemble. On top of that, the Goblin is holding a statue of Santa himself, perhaps attempting to finally get off the naughty list. Unfortunately for Norman, that ship has probably long since sailed.

An interesting feature of Jarmo’s costume (photographed by Przemek Serkowski) are the translucent yellow eyepieces, which are reminiscent of how Alex Ross sometimes paints the Green Goblin.

2 Hanging Out With The Rhino By Ty Shrum & Joe Parrish

Ty Shrum cosplaying as the Green Goblin and Joe Parrish cosplaying as the Rhino

They may be a few members short of the Sinister Six, but their combined forces are enough to send any less-than-brave Webslingers crawling to safety. The Green Goblin’s genius and unpredictability would provide interesting contrasts to the Rhino’s super-strength and “ram first, ask questions later” approach. The two could also limit Spider-Man’s maneuverability, with the Goblin striking from the air and Rhino from the ground.

Cosplayer Ty Shrum’s Goblin costume is highly detailed. Its rips and tears make the Green Goblin (who’s standing beside Joe Parrish’s Rhino) look even more like a Halloween monster, and the mask’s shape and features resemble Norman’s to a T.

1 Riding The Rails By Herbztiu

Herbztiu cosplaying the Green Goblin

Cosplayer Herbztiu answers a question that’s surely been on the minds of at least some fans: What does the Green Goblin do when he can’t use a glider? It seems even Spider-Man’s nefarious archenemy is open to public transportation, which will undoubtedly save him the trouble of maintaining and refueling his infamous Goblin Glider.

That said, the Green Goblin is bound to get some interesting looks from his fellow passengers, or from onlookers if he should choose to simply hang onto the outside of the train. Hopefully his arms wouldn’t get too tired— when it comes to clinging to things, he’s not exactly Spider-Man.
