Arrow spinoff Green Arrow and the Canaries is still in development, but it hasn't been picked up to series just yet.

On Twitter, Arrow showrunner Beth Schwartz shut down a rumor that Green Arrow and the Canaries has been ordered to series. She quoted the report, which claimed the spinoff had opened up a production office in Vancouver and was moving to series, and wrote, "I wish this was true!"

However, Arrow fans shouldn't lose hope just yet. In the responses, Schwartz clarified that Green Arrow and the Canaries is still in development, but The CW hasn't made a decision. "We just don’t know yet," she explained. She added that she would make a statement when The CW hands down its decision.

Green Arrow and the Canaries jumps forward in time to the year 2040, where Oliver Queen and Felicity Smoak's daughter Mia has grown up as a wealthy socialite. Black Canaries Laurel Lance and Dinah Drake crash her "perfect" life and wake her up to the reality of her life from a previous timeline, where she followed in her father's footsteps and became a vigilante. Now, crime has returned to Star City for the first time in 20 years, so she must take up the mantle once again to bring peace to the city her father sacrificed his life for. The backdoor pilot for the series aired in January, immediately following The CW's five-part "Crisis on Infinite Earths" crossover.

Arrow concluded its eight-season, 170-episode run last month. Green Arrow and the Canaries, a spinoff series starring Katherine McNamara, Katie Cassidy and Juliana Harkavy, is currently in the works but has not been ordered to series.
