With the series finale of Arrow having been released, the DC character Green Arrow is at an all-time high in his popularity. Over the course of several seasons, comic book and superhero fans got to get to know Oliver Queen a little better and were very impressed with how complex a character he really was.

One of the few criticisms of Green Arrow is that he has too much in common with DC's number one vigilante: Batman. Upon further inspection, it's hard to deny that these two characters share quite a few startling similarities. Here are five ways Green Arrow is just like Batman and five ways he's completely different.

10 Same: Gadgets & Weapons

Both heroes have used their vast and seemingly endless resources to build up quite impressive crime-fighting arsenals. While Batman has his batarangs, bombs and other gadgets of that sort, Green Arrow has what seems like hundreds of different trick arrows, some of them with highly impressive technology behind them.

The similarities in their equipment know no bounds. In fact, at one point Green Arrow even drove the Arrow Car. This vehicle was essentially just a Green Arrow ripoff of the Batmobile.

9 Different: Married Life

Green Arrow and Black Canary Wedding Special

Although they have been through a few rough spots over the years, Green Arrow and Black Canary have one of the strongest relationships in the entire DC comic universe. Their relationship has even grown to the point that they decided to get married to one another.

Although Batman has also had a few strong relationships, most notably with Catwoman and Talia al Ghul, his romantic relationships never quite gotten to that level. Catwoman and Batman almost got married recently in the comics, but unfortunately for the caped crusader, Catwoman left him at the altar.

8 Same: Caves

One of the most iconic parts of Batman lore is the Batcave. Its utter simplicity along with its many awesome features have made it a classic location that readers love visiting in the comics. In hopes of recreating this experience for one of their slightly lesser-known characters, DC decided to give Green Arrow the Arrowcave.

This move really didn't land like the writers of Green Arrow most likely though it would. A Batman operating out of a cave has a lot of thematic significance. A Robin Hood-style vigilante doing the same just reminds us of Batman.

7 Different: Batman Has Good Villains

From the Joker to Killer Croc, Batman has quite the wide assortment of great villains. In fact, he is actually known for having the best roster of villains in all of superhero comics. The only other hero to even come close is probably Spider-Man, and yet Batman's villains are still without a doubt the best.

Green Arrow doesn't have any noteworthy enemies. This is so much the case that in Green Arrow's CW show Arrow, several of Batman's villains were taken and used as villains of Oliver Queen. The show-runners simply didn't have enough good bad guys to choose from, and Batman literally has dozens of interesting antagonists.

6 Same: Female Hero Romance

Although they still haven't gotten married, the relationship between Batman and Catwoman has played a huge part in defining what superhero romances are truly like. Before these two began their flirtations, most heroes in comics would have civilian love interests.

That wasn't the case for Batman, and it certainly wasn't the case for Green Arrow either. As mentioned before, Green Arrow's relationship with Black Canary is one of the best romantic relationships in all of comics. These two superhero pairings are why comic book fans are now always dying to see different heroes getting together.

5 Different: Bat Family

Batman has a great support system in the form of the Bat-Family. Over the many decades of his existence, Bats has trained up many young heroes and made many powerful alliances with other crime fighters. Together, they are quite a force to be reckoned with.

Green Arrow hasn't been quite as good at forming partnerships with others. Sure, he does have a handful of trusty cohorts that Green Arrow likes to patrol the streets alongside, but he's got nothing even close to a "Bat-Family."

4 Same: Sidekicks

For the longest time, Batman was never seen anywhere with his trusty sidekick Robin. Green Arrow also had a sidekick of his own going by the name of Speedy. At other times his sidekicks have taken on the name Red Arrow and Arsenal, but they all serve the same purpose.

Both heroes have trained up their sidekicks to learn how to fight crime effectively. Also, both heroes have watched their sidekicks advance to the point where they wish for some independence from their former masters.

3 Different: Happy Go Lucky Vs Dark And Brooding

At times Green Arrow comes across as the typical dark and brooding vigilante with a singular focus of stopping violent crime. That isn't always the case, however. Other stories have shown Green Arrow to be a bit of a jokester. During those occasions, he seems like more of a swashbuckler than a hardened vigilante.

Batman, on the other hand, is always dark and brooding. Constantly trying to resolve his own childhood trauma, there is nothing Bats takes more seriously than his war against crime.

2 Same: Billionaire Businessmen

Queen Industries DC Comics "Green Arrow"

Oliver Queen and Bruce Wayne share one very obvious similarity: they are both billionaires. As superhero crimefighters, this serves as a great advantage, allowing the two of them to use their resources to help fund their masked adventures.

In addition to their massive personal wealth, both heroes also have international businesses named after their families. Wayne Enterprises and Queen Industries are two of the most reputable companies in the DC universe and these two men have control of each.

1 Different: Killing

Green Arrow Kills Prometheus in Cry for Justice

Batman's biggest rule is his no-kill policy. After witnessing the brutal killing of his two parents, Bruce vowed that he would stop crime without having to take a life. It is quite possibly the most important rule that Batman has in his entire life.

Oliver Queen doesn't share the same conviction. Although for long stretches he has vowed against killing, Green Arrow seems to usually circle back and break this rule, especially if there is a good reason to. No matter how good of a reason there might be, Batman will never break his one rule.
