As Arrow comes to a close in its eighth and final season, the series will give way to a future-set spinoff entitled Green Arrow and the Canaries. However, Arrow co-creator and former showrunner Marc Guggenheim has revealed that the second to last episode of the series, which will serve as the backdoor pilot for the spinoff, will break a series tradition thanks to studio interference. On Twitter, Guggenheim was asked if the tradition of naming the second to last episode of an Arrow season after a Bruce Springsteen song would continue for the final season. However, Guggenheim explained this would not be the case.

"Unfortunately, the studio required us to officially title the episode after the planned spinoff, thus demonstrating no respect for tradition," he responded. "Therefore, I would appreciate it if we could all just agree that the REAL title of 809 is "Livin' In the Future." Thank you all."

Airing Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on The CW, Arrow's final season stars Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen, David Ramsey as John Diggle, Rick Gonzalez as Wild Dog, Juliana Harkavy as Black Canary, Katie Cassidy as Black Siren, Katherine McNamara as Mia Smoak, Joseph David-Jones as Connor Hawke and Ben Lewis as William Clayton-Queen.
