Even a company as well versed as Netflix sometimes struggles with ending TV shows. It has created some of the most critically acclaimed series but sometimes leaves fans disappointed with rushed and unpolished endings. The greatest of shows can lose the stellar reputations that they spent years building if their conclusion undermines what they have created.

The following contains spoilers for Ozark, Season 4.

8 The Witch Is Dead In The Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina

Sabrina Spellman and the Weird Sisters

Not to be confused with the '90s sitcom Sabrina The Teenage Witch, this series focuses more on horror and dark, fantasy elements. Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina follows Sabrina Spellman, a half-witch, across two seasons divided into four parts.

Sabrina lives a double life, trying to be a typical high school girl while fighting the supernatural. In the finale, Sabrina sacrifices herself by taking part in a dangerous spell that kills her. Critics and fans were disappointed with the tragic ending that befell the protagonist.

Sometimes a show's ending is terrible because the creators didn't expect it, like when the show is cancelled. Even though Pretty Smart was not a critical hit, it was an enjoyable sitcom that followed the lives of five Millennials. Pretty Smart follows Emily Osment's Chelsea as she adapts to living with her sister and three other roommates.

The show was important as it discussed various ways to pursue happiness and success aside from higher education and nine-to-five jobs. The season ended on a cliffhanger where the love interest, Grant, has to choose between the two sisters. Fans were already annoyed that they had to wait to find out how it would play out, but now they will never know.

6 House Of Cards Continued To Get More Complex

Claire Underwood as president - House of Cards

The Emmy-winning political thriller House Of Cards follows Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey) and his wife, Claire (Robin Wright). Frank is an ambitious US Congressman who wants to obtain higher ranks in the American government. His intelligent and scrupulous wife helps him with his plan as she also gains her own power, eventually becoming president.

House Of Cards lasted for six seasons but lost its momentum, undoing years of groundbreaking work. Season 6 was considered the worse of the series due to its slow pace and overly complex plot. It spent too much time on its intricate plot and rushed its finale. After discovering that Doug killed Frank, Claire kills him before staring into the camera, leaving many vital questions unanswered.

5 Unfinished Storylines In Gentefied

The Morales family in their taco restaurant - Gentefied

Gentefied was one of the most diverse shows on Netflix before its cancellation. It focused on a multigenerational Mexican-American family who own a taco shop. The family comprises of three adult grandchildren and their grandfather who feel threatened when their community becomes gentrified, pushing them out. At the end of the first season, the grandfather is deported, which sets up the conflict for season 2.

Gentefield offered an exploration of various social issues through the different family members' lives. However, the second season's finale only seemed to tie up the grandfather's storyline and ignored the many unresolved conflicts in the three grandchildren's storylines.

The Punisher is a part of the MCU and a Daredevil spin-off series. However, it had one of the lowest ratings of all the Marvel-Netflix shows. Continuing his role as Frank Castle/Punisher, Jon Bernthal stars as the vigilante who lethally fights crime while trying to avenge his family's death.

3 13 Reasons Why Pushed Its Characters Passed Their Breaking Point

13 Reasons Why was intended to reflect the events of Jay Asher's novel. However, the series went on for four seasons, expanding past the book's premise. 13 Reasons Why starts with Clay Jensen finding cassette tapes left behind by his classmate, Hannah Baker, that detail the thirteen reasons for her suicide.

However, as 13 Reasons Why went on, it tried using the same characters to discuss new societal issues. This overlooked the impact on its characters, especially since they endured more than they were set up for. Clay continuously experienced heartbreak up until and including the finale, in which he witnesses his brother's death.

2 Jessica Jones Arrested A Beloved Character

Set in the MCU, Jessica Jones follows the titular character, an ex-superhero turned private detective. Both viewers and critics acknowledge that the show lost its edge after the second season. While the series itself was far from awful, it fell victim to repetitive storylines.

Jessica Jones' creators highlighted the character's darkest tendencies in the finale, which was applauded. However, its execution was superficial since it did not support the story. Fans were also disappointed with Trish Walker/Hellcat's fate as Jessica imprisoned her in the Raft.

1 Ozark Killed Off A Fan Favorite

Ruth Langmore with a group - Ozark

A fan favorite show, Ozark has remained gripping throughout its run but recently provided viewers with a disappointing finale. Ozark follows the Byrde family as they move to Lake of the Ozarks after Marty Byrde, the family's patriarch, loses the money he was laundering for the cartel.

While Ozark centers on the Byrdes, fans have grown to love Ruth Langmore (Julia Garner), who comes from a family of criminals. Sadly, Ruth doesn't redeem herself as hoped by audiences. Instead, she is murdered by Camila to avenge Javi's death.
