Grant Morrison is joining Scott Snyder, Greg Capullo, Jonathan Glapion and FCO Plascencia for a Dark Nights: Metal one-shot. On Twitter, Snyder confirmed that Morrison will co-write a one-shot titled Dark Knights Rising: The Wild Hunt, scheduled for release in February.RELATED: Jim Lee & Tony Daniel Debut Dark Nights: Metal #4 Variants

Grant Morrison's eight-year stint on Batman is considered one of the most legendary runs with the character. With collaborators such as J.H. Williams III, Frank Quitely and Chris Burnham, Morrison defined Batman heading into the 2010s and aspects of his run continue to have a knock-on effect throughout the DC Universe.

While it's surprising that Morrison has returned to Batman to help steer Dark Nights: Metal to its conclusion, it does make a lot of sense. A huge aspect of Morrison's run concerned the bat-demon Barbatos, who is the main enemy of this crossover event. The last time Batman faced Barbatos was after Darkseid sent him back in time in order to destroy the present; though Bruce Wayne saved himself with the help of his friends, Barbatos was created from the residual energy.

Dark Knights Rising: The Wild Hunt was first announced earlier this month and also features stories by Joshua Williamson and James Tynion IV, with Doug Mahnke and Ivan Reis providing some of the interior art. The solicit mentions that the Dark Knights are looking to stop an unlikely team of DC heroes, while it also promises to reveal the role of the Metal Men, who have been absent.
