Soriz

If you've ever seen One Punch Man's Silver Fang, you have a good idea as to who Soriz is. He's an aged but seasoned martial artist who demolishes opponents with fierce kicks and punches. Soriz has trained his body to become a nigh-indestructible force of nature, and it shows through his moveset.

Soriz's unique attack is called "Muscle Fury," and it grants him the ability to adsorb any attack that isn't a throw or super. Each hit taken in this stance gives Soriz one additional defensive stack, which reduces the amount of damage he takes during his Fundoshi install.

Special Moves

Soriz's first special move, "Impact Knuckle," is a fast straight punch that can catch opponents off guard. Both the Light and Heavy versions of the move travel about 40% and 50% of the screen, respectively. The Medium variation of the move travels full screen but takes longer to start. Since Soriz has no projectile, this is a great way to get in.

"Punch the Stars" is Soriz's version of  Jotaro's"ora ora" attack and is a great way to get more damage out of his combos. It's worth noting that the Heavy version of the move recovers quickly, allowing players to continue their pressure on the opponent.

With "Rock Smash," Soriz punches the ground and causes a pillar of flame to erupt. The Heavy version is useful in the corner because it can easily extend combos. Meanwhile, the Medium version of the move can be used to reset pressure on your opponent since they cannot challenge the move even after blocking.

Soriz's final special move, "Roundhouse Fang," is a dragon-punch type move. It primarily serves as an anti-air attack, but it has no invincibility frames. It will also knockdown opponents on hit.

Skybound Arts

Soriz's first super, "Leaping Tiger, Charging Dragon," is a flashy, two-hit invincible attack. It does great damage, but players need to be relatively close to their opponent to hit.

Soriz's second super, "Macho Ultimatum," is probably the best super in all of Granblue Fantasy Versus. In fighting game jargon, this is called an "install," as it powers up the character and grants access to additional moves. By activating the install, all of Soriz's special moves either have larger range, more hits, or increased damage. Additionally, Soriz's movement speed is increased significantly. The defensive stacks earned through "Muscle Fury" also gives him a damage reduction based on how many stacks he had prior to "Macho Ultimatum." Finally, the install grants Soriz access to "Way of the Fundoshi Fist," an incredible super where Soriz lays down his opponent with a devastating punch.

Djeeta

Djeeta is the female character counterpart in the original Granblue Fantasy mobile game. Though she plays very similarly to Gram, it would be a mistake to disregard her as a "clone" character.

Like Gran, Djeeta's unique attack, "Overdrive Surge," is a chargeable attack that can be canceled. On Level 5 charge, the move becomes invincible.

Special Moves

Djeeta's "Reginleiv" is her staple projectile special move. She shares this move with Gran, but with one significant difference: Djeeta can charge all variations of her fireball for more damage and a change in the timing. By charging her fireball, Djeeta can beat other projectiles.

"Rising Sword" is Djeeta's air special attack. It serves as her primary anti-air attack and invincible reversal move. It's useful for getting opponents off of you, but if blocked, leaves you wide open.

Finally, Djeeta's "Vorpal Blade" is unique to her. This is a multi-hitting attack that's good for racking up additional damage. The Light and Medium versions can be repeated twice while the Heavy version can be repeated up to three times. It also launches the opponent high enough for corner combos.

Skybound Arts

At first glance, Djeeta's "Eternal Ascendancy" looks very similar to Gran's "Tempest Blade." However, Djeeta can follow up her super with additional inputs that increase the damage output. If players do the technical input, Djeeta does more damage but at the cost of having to do the additional inputs manually. Interestingly enough, the technical version also gives Djeeta Super Saiyan Blue hair.

"Skyfall" is Djeeta's snazzier super. She strikes a Gurren Laggan pose and obliterates the opponent with Proto Bahamut. Do note that this can only be done with health at or below 30%.

With Soriz and Djeeta, Granblue Fantasy Versus has rounded out its roster with plenty of technical fighters and hard-hitting action. Whoever you choose to play, Arc System Works continues to make some of the best 2D fighting games on the planet.

GranBlue Fantasy Versus is out on Playstation 4 and PC.
