"Gotham's" Valerie Vale is Gordon's New Love Interest, and A Thorn in GCPD's Side

When Valerie -- not Vicki -- Vale arrives in "Gotham," the Gotham Gazette's newest reporter will immediately find herself in the thick of the city's growing cauldron of weirdness. And, as she attempts to uncover the truth about the strange happenings at Indian Hill, it sounds like she'll be making a few enemies, and at least one friend, along the way.

In a brief interview with TV Line, Chung explains how her character will affect the jobs of Gotham City's police. "You find Valerie in the midst of [Gotham City's chaos] asking the tough questions, trying to get to the core of the story... She'll give the cops a lead, but continues to show up - and that makes it difficult for them to do their job."

Vale's relationship with the GCPD isn't the only one that will come with complications. Chung also touched on the how the budding romance between Vale and James Gordon, now a bounty hunter, will play out, saying, "Valerie quickly realizes the kind of danger one can experience when 'dating' Jim Gordon..."

Starring Ben McKenzie, Robin Lord Taylor, David Mazouz and more, "Gotham" returns to Fox on September 19th at 8 pm EST.
