'Gotham's' Penguin Gets His Wings Clipped in 'Walking Dead' Premiere

In the opening sequence of The Walking Dead's Season 5 premiere, a number of fans noticed the first victim of Terminus' butchers looked a little familiar. Last night, on AMC's post-show Talking Dead, director Greg Nicotero came clean: It was Robin Lord Taylor, Gotham's Oswald Cobblepot, in a non-speaking role.

"We literally flew him in for one day," Nicotero told the audience. "He didn't even have one line of dialogue. He flew in, we kneeled him at the trough, we cut his throat, we went, 'Thanks!'"

Taylor was actually reprising his role from the Season 4 episode "Indifference," in which he played Sam -- "Hippie Sam," according to Talking Dead host Chris Hardwick -- one-half of the couple Rick and Carol meet while on a supply run, just before she's cut loose from the group.

Taylor continues his breakout role as Oswald Cobblepot on Gotham tonight at 8 ET/PT on Fox. The Walking Dead airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on AMC.
