Things are looking pretty intense in the recently released promo for "Time Bomb," the upcoming tenth episode in the fourth season of Fox's pre-Batman series "Gotham."

Former art gallery owner Barbara Kean (Erin Richards) doesn't look at all happy, and who could blame her? Her buddies Butch and Tabitha have gone missing and she holds the criminally-minded Mayor Oswald Cobblepot responsible. Let's hope the future Penguin is in a generous mood -- crossing Cobblepot can be a dangerous game, as many characters on the show have already discovered.

Elsewhere, fans of The HBO crime drama "The Wire" will be rejoicing with the return to "Gotham" of John Doman as retired crime boss Carmine Falcone. Ominously, he's talking about "taking care of things, my way." It seems at least plausible that he isn't planning on staying retired for much longer. Meanwhile, young master Bruce (David Mazouz) is asking about the Court of Owls. He's not interested in their fine line of miniature collectables, but for their part in the murder of his parents. Falcone doesn't seem so keen on the idea, and cheerfully predicts that "Gotham will burn."

And then there is the season's big villain, the Mad Hatter, played by Benedict Samuel -– he's nowhere to be seen in the promo, but surely it is only a matter of time before he makes his presence felt again.

Starring Ben McKenzie as Detective Jim Gordon, "Gotham" airs Mondays at 8 pm ET/PT on Fox. The series also stars David Mazouz as young Bruce Wayne, Camren Bicondova as young Selina Kyle, Donal Logue as Harvey Bullock, Robin Lord Taylor as Oswald Cobblepot, Morena Baccarin as Leslie Tompkins and Jada Pinkett Smith as Fish Mooney.
