Gotham Enlists League of Extraordinary Gentleman Star in Key S5 Role

Shane West has landed a key role in Gotham's final season. The actor, who appeared as Tom Sawyer in The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, is tapped to play Eduardo Durrance, Jim Gordon's old war buddy.

According to Deadline, West's Durrance will return to Gotham City after years away to help Jim restore order to No Man's Land with his team of elite soldiers. However, as Gordon soon finds out, Durrance has his own wicked plans for Gotham.

Buffs of Batman lore may catch the reference to Batman villain Sir Edmund Durrance, aka King Snake -- the father of Bane, the man who broke the Bat. It is unclear at this time if Shane West will play Bane's dad or if he will become Bane himself, but anything is possible.

Gotham will bring in iconic characters from the comics and its own history for Season 5, including The Mutants and remnants of The Court of Owls.

Shane West most recently starred in The CW's Nikita and ER. Aside from League, his screen credits include A Walk to Remember, co-starring Mandy Moore.

Gotham stars Ben McKenzie as James Gordon, Donal Logue as Harvey Bullock, David Mazouz as Bruce Wayne, Robin Lord Taylor as Penguin, Camren Bicondova as Selina Kyle, Erin Richards as Barbara Kean and Sean Pertwee as Alfred Pennyworth. The series is expected to return for its fifth and final season in January 2019.
