EXCLUSIVE: Gotham's Final Season Adds Scarface, Orphan & More Batman Foes

Jeremiah may plan to raze Gotham to the ground, but neither the city nor the series' stories are done yet. Fox recently announced a fifth and final season for the Batman prequel, and as longtime fans of the show know, each new year brings new threats -- and new versions of classic DC characters.

Season 5 will be no different in that respect. In the wake of Jeremiah's plan to detonate a series of massive bombs under the city's streets, Bruce Wayne, Jim Gordon and the rest of the survivors will find themselves facing a number of previously unknown enemies -- and one potential ally.

In an interview with CBR, Gotham executive producer John Stephens opened up on some of the new faces the show will introduce in its final season.

"There are a whole bunch of characters I want to see that I feel the viewers at large aren’t fully aware of, like Scarface or Ventriloquist," Stephens told CBR. "There’s a great dark version of that character somewhere out there who I would like to see come out. Some characters we know we want to see are Mother and Orphan. We want to see Lady Shiva. We are going to see all those characters in Season 5."

While most of those names are sure to clash with Bruce and Jim, at least one, Orphan, is a potential ally. The daughter of Lady Shiva, one of the deadliest people in the world, Cassandra Cain has spent more time as a hero than villain, even adopting the Batgirl identity for a number of years and becoming a fan-favorite character in the process. Though considering there isn't a Batman yet to inspire her, she may prove to be less inclined to help Gotham City out at this stage of her life.
