Fox's Gotham has had no shortage of classic Batman villains show up over the course of its four and a half seasons. In Season 1, we got the show's take on the classic baddie the Scarecrow, albeit with the caveat of it being Gerald Crane, the father of typical Scarecrow Johnathan. The young Scarecrow returned briefly early in Season 5, and a newly revealed character description tells us when he'll be back, and ready to fully embrace his villainous self.

[JONATHAN CRANE] Male, Early to Mid 20s. Caucasian. After being dosed with a fear toxin developed by his late father, Jonathan Crane was paralyzed by fear, until he learned to turn that fear on others. Dressing up as a scarecrow, he now uses home-made fear toxin to terrorize Gotham. Erratic, terrifying, and psychopathic, he no longer identifies as “Jonathan Crane,” preferring to go by his true name — “Scarecrow”…. RECURRING GUEST STAR, ALSO APPEARS IN EPISODE 417 & EPISODE 418

It's no secret Gotham has plans for Scarecrow -- he's appeared on screen already this season, after all -- but this description locks down not only when he'll return, but how he'll be portrayed. He will once again be played by Charlie Tahan, who has been developing the character since the series' first season.

Airing Thursday nights on Fox, Gotham stars Ben Mackenzie, Donal Logue, David Mazouz, Sam Pertwee, Robin Lord-Taylor, Camren Bicondova, Cory Michael Smith, Zabryna Guevara, and Michael Chiklis.
