The Joker has arrived on Gotham at last.

In a new promo for the series finale, Cameron Monaghan assumes his final form as the Clown Prince of Crime. After some exterior shots of Arkham Asylum, the video cuts to Joker himself, who sits comatose in a wheelchair. However, he finds new life in the next shot, which shows him wearing his full Joker makeup and a purple suit with yellow gloves. "I feel something new," he says. "Something... beautiful."

With that, Joker unleashes his laugh, which plays over the series logo reveal. A final shot of the character shows him standing on a catwalk; he turns slowly, only to reveal a Batarang protruding from his hand. At the sight of it, he releases another scream of laughter.

Gotham's finale will take place after a time jump that brings the series a decade into its future. Last month, showrunner John Stephens confirmed that the show’s final episode -- which will also be its 100th episode -- will also include more than just a mere glimpse of Batman. "He’s in the episode. He’s not just in a last scene," he teased. “The last episode is one scene in the timeline of the rest of the season, and then the rest of the episode is in the future." In accordance with that, this new promo certainly teases the Dark Knight's debut.

The promo was accompanied by a poster, which shows Joker in all his clownish glory.

Returning Thursday, April 18 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Fox, Gotham stars Ben McKenzie as James Gordon, Donal Logue as Harvey Bullock, David Mazouz as Bruce Wayne, Robin Lord Taylor as Penguin, Camren Bicondova as Selina Kyle, Erin Richards as Barbara Kean, Sean Pertwee as Alfred Pennyworth and Shane West as Bane.
