As teased last year, Fox's Gotham will adapt aspects of several Batman comic book storylines this season. Cameron Monaghan, better known as Jerome, indicated that the series takes some cues from Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale's The Long Halloween in upcoming episodes.
In an interview with Comicbook.com, Monaghan had quite a lot to say about how these story arcs will play out over the season.

"We're borrowing very heavily from some of the most iconic Batman storylines," Monaghan said. "I think that they're deep enough, and they show where it's really splitting that duality and start totally embracing the main arcs. I think that we did a little bit in season three to bring it into The Killing Joke."
That The Long Halloween storyline will be adapted for the show, should come as no surprise to those who follow the actor's Twitter. Last yeah, Monaghan tweeted out an iconic panel from comic wherein Joker and a couple other villains gather together.
Asked about the tweet, Monaghan confirmed that future episodes will indeed have a great deal to do with The Long Halloween.

"Most of the characters on that page are the ones that are going to be teaming up," Monaghan said. "They're interacting with each other. I do think that there's something about the nature of The Long Halloween and what that story is about things acting up between these different characters who are all having the arc and causing their own sort of unique layer of chaos around them. Basically getting bounced between one or the other, they're all taking over cities, and doing things in interesting ways. I think that a lot of what we're doing this season is very inspired by The Long Halloween and similar comics. It's also an awesome thing. It's one of my favorite ever."
Returning tonight on Fox, Gotham stars Ben Mackenzie, David Mazouz, Sean Pertwee, Robin-Lord Taylor, Donal Logue, Cory Michael Smith, Michael Chiklis, and Erin Richards.
