There are some fantastic games coming soon from Warner Bros. Not only is MultiVersus proving to be immensely popular with fans but there is also an original Harry Potter game coming at the end of the year. Two of WB's most anticipated games are without a doubt Gotham Knights and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. Gotham Knights is being developed by WB Games Montréal, which created Batman: Arkham Origins. Suicide Squad is being developed by Rocksteady Games, which is responsible for the rest of the Batman Arkham series. Both titles promise some incredible gameplay innovations on top of featuring fan-favorite characters.

It almost goes without saying that Rocksteady and WB Montréal have developed some of the best superhero games of all time, and the new games from both studios have the potential to be equally excellent, if not better. The power of the newest generation of consoles has allowed the developers to make enormous strides in gameplay and level design, and Rocksteady and WB Montréal could go even further with this technology. Suicide Squad and Gotham Knights could pave the way for a Justice League game.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League

Based on information currently available, Gotham Knights and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League are extremely similar in many ways. Both games feature a cast of comic book characters to play as and each character will have a unique playstyle and abilities. The two games also share the option to be played solo or co-op. While Suicide Squad keeps the team of characters together at all times, Gotham Knights require players to return to the belfry to switch characters. Although it isn't confirmed, it appears from trailers that both games will also feature an open world. With the power of newer consoles, all players will be able to explore the vast cities and utilize unique styles of gameplay.

Teaming up with friends to play as members of the Bat Family or the Suicide Squad is amazing, but there is no reason to stop there. Fans deserve the opportunity to play a game as the Justice League itself, and team up with their friends to save the world. Each member of the team would have radically different playstyles and means of traversal, giving gamers the opportunity to play as characters that are good fits for them. It would be amazing to fly around as Superman, run through town as the Flash, or fly in the Batwing.

It would be a massive undertaking, but it could completely revolutionize superhero video games. Other games have tried to perfect the superhero ensemble, like Marvel's Avengers, but only to varying degrees of success. That has partially been due to the power of the previous generations of consoles. However, the power of the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S has finally created a world where players can take on the roles of their favorite heroes of the Justice League.

The success of Gotham Knights and Suicide Squad will undoubtedly play a part in future DC games. If both games are hits, however, Warner Bros. would be fools not to consider a full Justice League game. Allowing players to fight crime with their friends as Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and the rest of the league would be a dream come true.
