The release window for Gotham Knights may have leaked thanks to promotional material seemingly published a little too early.

As noted by The Game Post, images for Gotham Knights were posted to campaign and branding art director Jin Park's personal website. One of the spotted visuals included the game's logo and symbol, lit up in a neon purple light, alongside text which simply read "Spring 2022." Warner Bros. previously confirmed that the game would be released in 2022 (following a significant delay), but did not specify a release window.

While developer Warner Bros. Games Montreal has yet to formally announce the Gotham Knights' launch date, the fact that the images were quickly removed from Park's site lends some credence to the leak.

Gotham Knights takes place after the untimely death of Batman. While the circumstances around Bruce Wayne's demise remain a mystery, Gotham City is thrown into mayhem. With villains rising up to stake their claim, the responsibility falls onto the remaining Bat-Family to keep the civilians safe. Players will step into the armored boots of Barbara Gordon's Batgirl, Tim Drake's Robin, Nightwing and Red Hood as they attempt to bring order back to the city.

Initial gameplay trailers demonstrated how the characters will play, each one sporting unique skills and abilities that will influence how they approach combat and traverse the city. Robin is able to teleport short distances thanks to a Justice League satellite while Red Hood is more efficient at taking down foes at range with his twin pistols. The game can be played either solo or with a friend, meaning fans will be able to combine their skillsets to better eliminate criminals.

The most recent footage of Gotham Knights debuted during DC Fandome 2021. The story trailer provided a peek into what fans can expect in terms of narrative, highlighting the Court of Owls and their deadly Talons. The game is expanding on the mythos of the shadowy organization, introducing new lore that builds on the villains created by Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo. The Penguin also makes an appearance as he attempts to dissuade Nightwing from persuing the powerful group.

Whether or not Gotham Knights does launch in Spring 2022, the game will be available for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC.
