Gotham Knights is poised to share some footage of the highly-anticipated Bat-Family action RPG, which will launch later this year.

In a recent post to its official Twitter account, Gotham Knights left a teasing message for fans, implying an update on May 10 at 6 AM PT. "Mission update from the Belfry: Nightwing and Red Hood. Powers Club. Tomorrow. 6 AM PT," reads the Tweet, along with a picture of Red Hood's hand grasping a gun alongside Nightwing wielding one of his Escrima Sticks.

The Belfry is a direct reference to the first trailer for the game. In it, the Bat-Family -- consisting of Red Hood, Nightwing, Time Drake's Robin and Barbara Gordon's Batgirl -- receive a message seemingly beyond the grave from Bruce Wayne. Their father figure issues a "Code Black," explaining the current situation in Gotham and asking the heroes to protect the city against these new threats. Along with the new mission, Wayne offers them the Belfry Hideout in Wayne Tower as their new base of operations.

Fans took the vague message to imply Gotham Knights plans to unveil new gameplay focusing on the fighting styles of Red Hood and Nightwing. Despite all four heroes having been trained by Batman/Bruce Wayne, Gotham Knights gives each character unique combat abilities to fulfill different tasks the player might encounter throughout the game: Nightwing employs elegant acrobatic skills that fuel his powerful attacks, while Red Hood uses more brutal methods to frighten his enemies. Robin and Batgirl have their own skillsets as well, with Robin displaying rogue-like stealth to sneak up on his opponents while Batgirl keenly zones in on her enemy's weak points and attacks with her arsenal of tech.

Gotham Knights is a fully open-world co-op online action-adventure that takes place after Batman's death. With the Dark Knight's demise, it is up to the Bat-Family to clear Gotham's streets of a new criminal underworld. "It is one open-world city, right from the start. And no, there's no level gating whatsoever," creative director Patrick Redding explained when discussing Gotham Knights in December 2020. "It's really that, when you encounter open-world crime activities (and other activities that involve the AI), you're going to see a range, right? You might see guys that are a little bit weaker than you, and guys that are a little bit stronger than you. And how you approach each of those situations, it presents you with some choices that you're going to have to make."

Initially planned for a 2021 release, Gotham Knights is set to release on October 25, 2022, and will be available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC.
