The first sixteen minutes of gameplay for Gotham Knights have been released online.

The video, which was released by IGN, takes place after the game's prologue. The segment opens with Barbara Gordon/Batgirl, Dick Grayson/Nightwing, Tim Drake/Robin and Jason Todd/Red Hood talking about breaking into the Gotham City Police Department headquarters. The deceased Bruce Wayne/Batman teases that there's something they're investigating that could "shake Gotham to its core." There's also a reference to Doctor Langstrom/Man-Bat. What Is Gotham Knights?

An action role-playing game with an optional multiplayer component set in an open-world Gotham City, Gotham Knights takes place after the deaths of Batman and Jim Gordon and allows players to choose from such characters as Nightwing, Batgirl, Robin and Red Hood. Over the course of the game, player will contend with many classic Batman foes, including the Court of Owls and Mr. Freeze. Additionally, there have been teases for Harley Quinn, and the developers noted there are several other unannounced characters.

In terms of other Bat-Family allies, Alfred Pennyworth will indeed appear in the game, and the Justice League's technology also plays a role. However, the status of Bruce Wayne's son, Damian Wayne, remains unclear. Creative director Patrick Redding said in July that the reason for his absence are difficult to explain without "major spoilers" for the title.

Originally announced in 2020 at DC FanDome, Gotham Knights was previously scheduled to release in 2021. However, the game was delayed. At the time, the companies behind Gotham Knights, WB Games Montréal and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, thanked fans for their support and said that they were "giving the game more time to deliver the best possible experience for players."

Gotham Knights is far from the first game to bring Batman to gaming consoles. Notably, 2009's Batman: Arkham Asylum kicked off a series of critically acclaimed games in which players took up the Dark Knight's mantle and fought against his various foes. While Gotham Knights is not technically part of that series, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, which is slated for release in 2023, is.

Developed by WB Games Montréal and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, Gotham Knights will release on Oct. 25 for Windows, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
