Developer Warner Bros. Games Montréal finally provides fans with a specific release date for the highly-anticipated superhero game Gotham Knights.Announced via the game's official Twitter account, fans of the Bat-Family will be able to bring justice to criminals on Oct. 25, 2022. While some gamers may be disappointed by the relatively late launch, the studio originally specified that the game was only ever planned for a 2022 release. It also further debunks rumors that Gotham Knights was experiencing troubles with its development and could potentially be delayed into 2023. The new launch date was accompanied by a gloomy image of a clock tower, presumably The Belfry, lighting up a smoky Gotham City.Related: Gotham Knights Christmas Card Fully Reveals Nightwing's New Emblem

Set just after the tragic death of Batman, Gotham Knights places players into the boots of various members of the crime-fighting family: Nightwing, Time Drake's Robin, Barbara Gordon's Batgirl and Red Hood. Each of the four playable characters comes equipped with unique abilities and equipment to help them take down villains and traverse the rain-soaked city streets. Some of their highlighted skills include Robin's short-range teleport, courtesy of a hacked Justice League satellite, and Red Hood's long-range pistols that can dispense enemies from afar.

While various gameplay trailers revealed that Gotham Knights will include several classic Batman villains, including The Penguin and Mr. Freeze, the title will also be utilizing one of the Caped Crusader's most recent and deadly nemeses. The Court of Owls will play a significant role in the game as players are tasked with taking down the shadowy organization. Throughout the game, the Bat-Family will need to contend with the Talons, hyper-advanced assassins bred to eliminate anyone that stands in the Court's way. Warner Bros. Montréal is expected to introduce several new forms of the formidable enemies and worked alongside creators Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo to further build on the organization's mythology.
