Gotham: David Mazouz Pens Emotional Tribute to Sean Pertwee

As Gotham wraps up filming on its fifth and final season, actor David Mazouz had nothing but kind words to say about actor Sean Pertwee, who portrayed Alfred Pennyworth alongside his Bruce Wayne/Batman.

“Today marks the very last time I will work with this man on gotham," Mazouz wrote in a post on Instagram. "It's hard for me to know what to say. Sometimes I feel like Sean knows me better than I know myself. He always knows what I’m thinking and feeling, always making sure I’m okay, which I think is a testament to how close our relationship has been over the last third of my life. And over those five years, I’ve learned what it means to be a gentleman, professional, and unabashedly talented from this man. I am sad my days with him (on gotham) have come to end but I am eternally grateful for my experience with him and happy for the people who will be recipients of his light next. Thanks Sean.”

Pertwee, who also penned a tribute to Mazouz, commented in response to the young actor's post, writing, “I love you my man. I’m officially crying.”

The series, which originally focused on the early years of Jim Gordon’s employment with the Gotham City Police Department, has also seen Mazouz's Bruce Wayne slowly evolving into Batman.

Gotham’s fifth season, which is titled Gotham: Legend of the Dark Knight, premieres on January 3, 2019. The season and will consist of 12 episodes.
