Gotham just laid the groundwork for Batman's sidekick-turned-hero Nightwing.
In this CBR-exclusive clip from "They Did What?", the penultimate episode of the series, Lucius Fox gives Bruce Wayne some new toys for the fight to come: Wayne Enterprises EMP, smoke bombs, signal jammers -- the works. However, one piece of tech in particular stands out for its familiar name.
"Remember the Nightwing Project?" Lucius asks, to which Bruce responds, "Portable next gen stealth tech."
"Put it on any aircraft and it's invisible to radar," Lucius confirms. "But unfortunately, it also seems to serve as a beacon to certain animals." Of course, he is likely referring to bats here, since the young Bruce Wayne has not taken up his famous moniker just yet.
In the comics, Batman's first Robin goes on to assume the name Nightwing when he splits off from his mentor and becomes a solo hero in his own right. While Gotham takes place much to early to introduce Dick Grayson, this moment does lay the groundwork for the mantle he will ultimately assume.
