With its recent series finale, Gotham and gave Batman fans a look at fully-evolved versions of characters like the Penguin, the Riddler, Jim Gordon and the Caped Crusader himself. The final appearance of the Joker has been a long time coming for Gotham and in the last episode, his horrifying final look is revealed.

Now, Ben Bornstien, make-up/effects artist on Gotham since 2015, shared a video on Instagram of Cameron Monaghan’s transformation in Gotham's particularly horrifying Clown Prince of Crime. The video below shows a time-lapse of special effects artists casting Monaghan's face.

With his scarred skin and lack of hair, the finale's Joker was one of the most horrifying versions of teh character ever put to screen. The look for Gotham's Joker was created at Bornstien's FX shop, Taking Shape Studio.

We saw many different looks for the Joker in Gotham, including a stapled-on face version inspired by Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo's New 52-era Batman.

Gotham stars Ben McKenzie as James Gordon, Donal Logue as Harvey Bullock, David Mazouz as Bruce Wayne, Robin Lord Taylor as Penguin, Camren Bicondova as Selina Kyle, Erin Richards as Barbara Kean, Sean Pertwee as Alfred Pennyworth and Shane West as Bane. Season 5 and The Complete Series will be available on Blu-ray and DVD June 11, 2019.
